RE: cookie recipies

I have the absolutely BEST oatmeal cookie recipe, but, it must be safeguarded. Might be the reason why Quaker puts it on the INSIDE of the lid, and not on the outside of the box. Really, I have tried many different oatmeal cookie recipes, and the one Quaker gives out is best. If you are feeling adventurous, add raisins, walnits, or like I do, BOTH. Enjoy. btw, you might have to play with cooking time, but, everyone that gets my bite-size(1 tsp)cookies prefers them over the large(1 tbs)cookies.

RE: 80 vs. Turnpike across PA

the PA Pike is an OLD road, not built for 70mph, and some of the switchbacks are interesting. I80 is the better ride.

RE: response from reno mayor

Reno 911 is a COMEDY show aka a Parody of the real Cops show. :h Really? wow, without you to point that out for me, I would have thought it 100% real. After all, the members of the cast all look like everyday officers.

RE: response from reno mayor

from what I have seen of Reno's sherriff's department on TV, this does not surprise me. At least on "Cops!", they go to different cities, "Reno 911" is ALWAYS in Reno. Man, these folks are inept, no wonder the mayor is a foo......

RE: Water Pressure Regulator

it sounds like air is infiltrating, and your loss of pressure sounds like a sympton, not the cause. at one of the CG we go to, water comes from THE CG SPICKET just as you describe. once securely connected to the TT, we let the air out of the line, finally get water, and if we leave it for too long without runnning the water, we get the pits and hissers again. loss of pressure = place for air = spits and hissers and if a system is never completely drained of air, the air will seek to the highest point it can reach, a high loop can make ya crazy.

RE: wash the dishes or paper plates?

When it comes to paper plates, I really wonder HOW GREEN they are, and part of why I was curious. I surely understand the ease of clean-up and disposal. Let's look at wood pulp, which requires energy to process into a plate, and how many trees it takes to produce a plate. Paper can be recycled easily into corrugated cardboard boxes, but, who wants a box made with traces of yesterday's dinner. There is little recycling of the paper or paper plates. Washing dishes sounds more green to me. The soaps we use break down naturally and unless you store the grey water, begin to do so almost immediately. Yes, storing grey water allows toxins to grow, concentration of bacteria etc. Energy is spent one time to make the plate, earthenware or ironstone or fine china, made from sand/clay/dirt and fire. No trees involve, no further earth destruction required. I am weighing one to the other, and please, if not already done so, voice your opinion. (btw - I am NOT a greenie)

wash the dishes or paper plates?

sure it is easy to use disposable plates, bowls, cups, and flatware when camping. The environmental concerns of the waste product (paper or plastic etc) versus the environmental concerns of re-using a washed plate (soap or grey water etc) Myself, I prefer a large coffee mug, so I tote one of my favorites from home. I would not use a foam product, cup, plate, or bowl, since the CFC scare of the 70's. I am by no means a tree-hugger. I would be midway on a list of "Most Green". The waste produced while camping can be substantial. How about ya'll? Paper plates or wash dishes?

RE: Delaware River Bridge

bridges and tunnels from NYC to NJ do not charge you to leave NYC, just to get in. 40-50 years ago, tolls were paid in both directions, then, to alleviate the press of the evening rush hour, the toll was doubled to inbound traffic and no charge for outbound, allowing folks out faster. most toll roads charge "per axle" I paid $2 to pull a vehicle on a tow dolly up GA-400. If I paid the toll for each vehicle independently at 50cent each, it is $1, go figure.

RE: "quiet hours"/no generator use question for the experts here

for the same respritory concerns, I tracked down a table fan that will run 10-12 hours on 4 D cell batteries. DW needs air moving, this suits the requirement. I think it was either a WallyWorld of Target' find.

RE: Red Tide?????

A screen room will protect you from the Love Bug orgy. The do not do anything but reproduce, so they are not likely to bite, they just mess up your vehicles. Red tide is the choking algae previously described. Welcome to FL in early fall. Just think, the rainy season isn't over yet either.

RE: Dash Air works on Max setting but not on A/C

sounds like an electrical/wiring issue difference bewteen MAX and A/C is the recirculation. on MAX, a door opens, pulling cabin air through the cooling coils again. on regualr AC setting, it pulls outside air through the coil. There are relays, there are wires to the back side of the control you see poking through the dash, an there are vacuumm doors that need to open to direct air flow. On normal AC, is the fan blowing? if it is, a door is not opening allowing the air to blow. On normal AC, is the fan not blowing? If not, I suspect a bad relay, worst case, a loose/broken wire. Enjoy the hunt!
